About Clearview Power Blade

Safety. Convenience. The Science of Sight.

Power Blade Demonstration

You want a clear windshield when you’re driving. The patented Clearview Power Blade is the answer. In summer the Power Blade polishes insects, dirt and other residue from your windshield. No streaking, no smearing. In winter, the Power Blade removes heavy frost, snow and keeps the wiping mechanism free of ice and snow in the harshest conditions.

Activate the Clearview Power Blade at any time, any speed from the comfort of your vehicle. You’ll get a crystal clear windshield that will reduce your eyestrain and make your travel safer.

The Science of Sight

  1. Light from a source such as the sun or headlamp reflects off an object such as a vehicle or pedestrian and enters your eyes.
  2. The light entering the eye forms an image.
  3. The retina converts that image into electrical impulses.
  4. The electrical impulses move toward the brain. Along this visual pathway, the neurons process the image.
  5. Sight occurs. You visually perceive something,
      but not everything.

Anything that blocks the reflecting light that creates the image on your retina interferes with your ability to see, perceive and act to avoid an object in your path. Common causes of this effect on a windshield are insect smearing or streaking and snow or ice freezing the wiper mechanism.

Glare is a significant factor causing vision obstruction that leads to a collision.

Do insects cause collisions? No, glare causes collisions.

Seeing an object is determined by how the surface reflects light. The surface’s reflective properties can be characterized by a closer look at that surface's condition, the irregularity of the insect residue on a windshield surface reflects light in all directions causing glare in the drivers eye's.

Below is an interpolation of the collision percentages, which took place in clear weather, listed in the study of the Glare Issue Human and Natural Elements Statistical Assessment .
  • You are 8.5% more likely to be involved in a collision if your age exceeds 45 when glare is present.
  • You are 12% more likely to be involved in a collision on a two-lane highway when glare is present.
  • You are 26.7% more likely to be involved in a collision between 6 and 9 a.m. when glare is present.
  • You are 28% more likely to be involved in a collision by striking the other vehicle when glare is present.

Police Safety

Can you trust what you see? Can you see the entire road through your dirty windshield?

Even after cleaning with standard wipers, your windshield will be smeared with insects in the summer and littered with clumps of ice and snow in the winter. For law enforcement officers that dirty windshield may hide deadly hazards.

Look through the smeared windshield in this traffic stop. Then look again through the crystal-clear windshield after it was polished clean by the computer-controlled, multi-directional Clearview Power Blade. As seen through the vehicle’s dash-cam, the “before” view with standard wipers isn’t any better. In fact, that “before” view would later hinder the successful prosecution of a case.

Now, would you trust your life with what you see using standard wipers?

Practical Vision Test

You have driven with windshield obstructions all your life, is a clean windshield that important? Test your vision to see if you can determine changes with momentary interruptions with your vision.

In winter, you’ve likely experienced wiper blades that freeze. The wiper blades snow and ice remain on the windshield, limiting visibility. A common solution is to pull over, get out, remove the ice and snow by hand ,subjecting you, the driver to the danger of being struck by another automobile in slick, limited visibility situations. With the ClearView Power Blade, simply activate the system and the rapid back-and-forth reciprocation of the windshield polishing element immediately removes snow and ice from the wiper mechanism. The Power Blade then resumes normal windshield cleaning.

With heavy snow, a ridge of snow may build up on the windshield at the outside edge of the wiper arc, allowing the wiper blade to ride up and lose contact with the windshield. Activate the ClearView Power Blade in these conditions to push the rigid snow away and allow the blade to re-establish contact with the windshield.

The ClearView Power Blade enhances the safety of any vehicle, but it is a must for owners of SUVs, high-lift and off-road vehicles. Their windshields are often subjected to conditions well beyond the norm, in addition to often being neglected because of the challenge of simply reaching the windshield. The ClearView Power Blade also eliminates the fall risk common to these drivers who are cleaning their windshields.

Only the safest and most efficient operations are profitable in today’s economy. Recent data from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration states that the cost of each collision in the trucking industry costs on the average is:

  • $91,112 for trucks of more than 10,000 lbs.
  • $289,549 for tractors pulling two or three trailers
  • $159,258 for a non-fatal injury collision
  • $3,604,518 for a fatal crash injury collision
  • $15,000+ for property damage per collision

These numbers, coupled with the substantial increase in audited insurance premiums when a claim is filed, make safe operation imperative.

Worker Compensation Insurance

An additional consideration is the increase in premiums for worker compensation. Slip-and-fall and the strain categories might be caused by a semi or industrial equipment driver cleaning a windshield. Those two categories account for 50% of all transportation worker compensation claims.

Many occupations require a vehicle operator to spend a substantial amount of their work day or night looking through an insect covered or limited visibility windshield due to ice and snow with frozen wipers. Long-haul truck and bus drivers operate their vehicles for hundreds of miles before stopping. Improving work conditions may help reduce driver turnover. Law enforcement and other first responders may travel at high speeds at anytime, anywhere. Delivery drivers frequently encounter traffic congestion and pedestrians. The drivers’ safety and the safety of the general public depend on the driver being able to see clearly and react rapidly to changing driving conditions.

The windshield conditions listed here are common hazards. Due to distances traveled, they often become severe for the professional drivers: highway patrol officers and other law enforcers, search-and-rescue workers, inter agency fire department personnel and many others.

  1. Vehicle operators, particularly in rural areas, often find their windshields severely obscured by insects after just a few miles.
  2. Operation of the windshield wash cycle with non-powered wiper blades while insects are stuck to the windshield causes smearing, severely compromising safety by limiting windshield clarity, while increasing eye fatigue and loss of situational awareness.
  3. Time constraints, scheduling or emergencies may prevent drivers from pulling over to clean the windshield even though the driver realizes safety is being compromised.

Facts & Figures

Save time and eliminate the need to pull over to clean your windshield. The patented Clearview Power Blade, at the push of a button, scrubs the residue from your windshield. The Power Blade does the work for you. Gone too is the streaking and the smearing caused by traditional wipers.

From 2000 to 2008, traffic fatalities totaled 377, 604, or a yearly number of fatalities of 42,952. The annual number of fatalities adjusted for a yearly increase in drivers is essentially the same from 2000 to 2008. The injuries totaled 2,843,422. This means that 11 percent of all licensed drivers were injured in those eight years.

Regardless of billions being spent on public education campaigns, impaired driving fatalities remained virtually constant from 1995 at 32.2% to 2008 at 31.6% . Deducting an average of 32% from the total fatality and injury rate reveals that 29,207 fatalities and 1,927,406 injuries per year had no relation to alcohol impaired motor vehicle operation. Other factors, one of which is impaired sight through the windshield, is a contributor.

The National Maximum Speed Law (NMSL) in the U.S. was a provision of the 1974 Emergency Highway Energy Conservation Act that prohibited speed limits higher than 55 miles per hour. The NMSL was modified in 1987 and 1988 to allow speeds of up to 65 mph (105 km/h) limits on certain roads. Congress repealed the NMSL in 1995, fully restoring to the states the authority to determine the maximum speed limits for the state.

It is noteworthy that after 1995 (when the states reasserted pre-1974 speed limits and in some cases raised them), the fatality rate adjusted for the increase in driver population between 2000 and 2008 prior to deducting 32% for alcohol-impaired fatalities remained virtually unchanged.

It is possible that speed limits may have less correlation to highway fatalities than has been suggested.

What has worked in the past to reduce fatalities?

The major safety improvements proven to reduce fatalities and injuries are seat belts, anti-lock brakes and air bags.

FAQ

What is a Clearview Power Blade?

The world’s first multi-directional, computer-controlled windshield wiper.

How much does it cost?

A single Clearview Power Blade is only $65, while a complete set of two is priced at only $110.

How does it work?

The Clearview Power Blade follows the wiper arc across the windshield exactly as your conventional wiper does. When you turn on the windshield wash cycle, the Clearview Power Blade still moves over the same wiper arc. However, the wiper blade plus the scrubbing element now move in a 1/2 inch back-and-for reciprocation over 42 times per second, scouring insects and foreign matter from your windshield.

Does it move that way every time I turn on my windshield wiper?

No. The Clearview Power Blade only operates in the power mode when you turn on the wash cycle. When there is no fluid in the wash system, the Clearview Power Blade will not run the power cycle. This prevents scratching your windshield. The blade, however, continues to sweep across the windshield.

If the ClearView Power Blade fails will my windshield wipers still work?

Yes. The Clearview Power Blade is independent of the controls and electrical circuits that operate your windshield wipers. In the event of failure, the Clearview Power Blade will operate as a premium wiper blade. The Clearview Power Blade was tested in more than 25,000 cycles. If you operated the system every 30 minutes at 70 miles per hour, you will have traveled 875,000 miles by the time you reach 25,000 cycles.

Is it hard to install?

No. You can install the Clearview Power Blade in 15 minutes or less with common household tools. For more information, click on installation./p>

If I try to wash my windshield and I’m out of washer fluid, will it damage my Clearview Power Blade?

No. The Clearview Power Blade will only operate in the power mode if there is sufficient washer fluid. Without fluid in the wash system, the Clearview Power Blade will not run the power cycle. The blade will continue to sweep across the windshield like a standard wiper.
